| Madeline Mastromarchi, M3 Creations, Austin, Texas Possessing the ability to create art is a wonderful gift as far as talent goes. I work to evolve in creative ways and to develop different styles of drawing and painting. In a time where so much focus is put on getting things done quickly and cheaply it can be challenging to find the inspiration to really develop true original works of art. I find that inspiration can be found in nature and other artists. I grew up in upstate New York where there were always beautiful places to go that were filled with nature to tap into for inspiration. The idea of making something from nothing with my own hands and imagination was what inspired me to want to create. I spent a lot of time drawing and painting when I was a child. I wrote short stories and llustrated little books, designed and made clothes, painted background sets for plays that my sister's and I would produce for my parents. Art always played a big role in my life when I was growing up. For two years after the age of twelve I participated in an artist apprenticeship where I studied drawing and painting through still life and learned art history through film. I learned college level studio art and art history, so I had a head start when I was placed in advanced placement studio art in high school. My painting work started with acrylics and oils. When I was in college I branched off into Graphic Design and Photography work. Then later I created two print and online magazines in my free time, 20 Pages of Funk and Yummy Zine at www.yummyzine.com. My strongest work is in photography, abstract painting and hand drawn illustration work. My Abx painting work is pretty focused on conveying motion and experimenting with colors. My illustration work is more graphic. I also have a strong background in publishing small creative magazines and creative direction. My publishing experience grew as I worked six years for a company that developed newspaper websites for the publication of news content. Overall my skills are pretty broad in range and I bounce from one medium to another. |
