About The Artist Madeline Mastromarchi

I work to evolve in creative ways, to develop different styles of illustration, painting, photography and minimal design. I find inspiration in nature, fashion design, art history, music and artists. My painting work began with watercolor and acrylics, but oil became my medium of choice. As my oil work progressed, I discovered my love for abstract painting and life figure drawing.

My artistic ambitions began around age 7. I spent a lot of time writing short stories for little books I illustrated, designing and making clothes, experimenting with photography and painting. At age twelve I participated in a two year artist apprenticeship at Lemily's Art Studio in Albany, New York where I attended studio art classes, studied still life drawing and painting and art history. In my junior and senior years in high school I was in the Advanced Placement Studio Art program at Shaker High School. In college I continued to study fine arts and transitioned into the commercial arts at SAGE College of Albany.

My art work has been featured in group exhibit gallery shows in upstate New York, group art shows in Nashville TN and Salida CO, and has been purchased directly for private home collections. Making art is among my proudest accomplishments, but I have also had a lot of fun promoting the work of other artists in my role as Creative Director in magazine publishing. In 2003 I served as Creative Director of 20 Pages of Funk magazine, which was a quarterly print magazine sponsored by Red Bull. In 2006 I published an online magazine YummyZine, which similar to aforementioned 20 Pages of Funk was dedicated to art, photography, electronic dance music and fashion. Photography has also always been a passion of mine and in 2012 I was recognized with an award for my photography work with the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, TX. Click 13th Lake to view my award winning photo taken on a canoe trip in Lake George, New York.

These past ten years my focus has been on figure art, studying the human figure from life with quick gestures and more developed pastel drawings. In 2020 my figure drawings were published by Fulton Books Publishing in a book of peoms.

I am currently publishing new art on my blog at M3 Creations Art Blog. Stay tuned for new art with summaries of what inspired me and my creative process!
